BASKETBALL Biddy and Jr. Biddy Basketball Lancaster Biddy Basketball Association www.lancasterbiddy.com The Lancaster Biddy Basketball Association offers basketball opportunities for boys and girls from the 3rd through 6th grade. Biddy Basketball: To be eligible to participate in the Biddy Basketball League, a player must be in the 5th or 6th grade AND must attend the Lancaster City Schools; or if Home-Schooled a player must be in the 5th or 6th grade AND live in the Lancaster City School District. 6th Grade Students who played on a Biddy Team in the 5th grade will return to the team of which they played. 6th Graders who have not played in the Biddy Leagues will try out for the elementary school they attended last year. If new to the area, the player will tryout for the school district in which they live. Home-Schooled Children will try out for the elementary school in which district they live. Players cannot play more than 2 years in the Boys' and Girls' Biddy Leagues. Registration takes place in the fall and is $50 per player. Registration information will be advertised in local papers, fliers will be distributed to students at the schools, and information will be available on the Lancaster Biddy Website. Registration forms and fees will be taken through the coach and paid to the LBBA before the first week of games. Registration fees and release forms from each parent or guardian must be turned in before the first game of the season. If the release forms and fees are not turned in by the first game of the season, that player will be declared ineligible. Jr. Biddy Basketball: To be eligible to participate in the Junior Biddy Basketball League, a player must be in the 3rd or 4th grade AND attend the Lancaster City Schools or attend a county school within Fairfield County. 5th and 6th graders may also participate in the Junior Biddy Leagues if they attend the Lancaster City Schools but did not make a Biddy Team, or if they attend a surrounding county school. Home-Schooled Children who are in the 3rd or 4th grade may participate in the Junior Biddy Leagues. 5th and 6th grade home-schooled students who did not make the Biddy Team are also eligible to play in the Junior Biddy Leagues. Registration takes place in the fall and is $50 per player. Registration information will be advertised in local papers, fliers will be distributed to students at the schools, and information will be available on the Lancaster Biddy Website. The class focus is on all aspects of amateur boxing, as well as fitness and nutrition. Sessions are anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks long and run continuously throughout the year. Gymnastics classes include: Tumble Bears and Dancing Bears: This class is designed for children 22 months to 3 ½ years of age and their parent/guardian. Tumble Tots: For children ages 3 ½ to 5 years old Tumble Juniors: For children ages 4 to 5 years old who have successfully completed the Tumble Tots class. Rollers, Swingers and Kippers: For children ages 5 to 12 years old. These three classes are beginner, intermediate and advanced level classes divided respectfully by age and ability. Gymnastics Hocking Valley Youth Sport Center 740-653-3547 Gymnastics programs are offered by the Hocking Valley Youth Sport Center for children as young as one (if they are able to walk) and up. "Funtastics Gymnastics" is for boys and girls in Kindergarten or younger. These classes include: Tumble Cubs: For children from walking to age 3 or 4 and a parent. Tumble Bears: For 3 and 4 year old children without a parent. Bouncing Bears: For 4 and 5 year old children, or one year before Kindergarten. Kinder Bears: For children from 5 to 6 years old, or enrolled in Kindergarten. "Startastics Gymnastics" is for boys and girls who are in 1st Grade or older. These classes include: Tumblers: Separated by age and gender, these classes take students with little or no experience and give them a firm foundation in the sport. Students stay in this class until they are ready for the High Flyers class. High Flyers: Separated by age and gender, these classes are for intermediate students. Skills worked on are a continuation of skills learned in the Tumblers class. Classes are 1 hour and 15 minutes. Gym Troupe: Gym Troupe is a performance group which uses gymnastics and dance skills along with music. Gym Troupe I is for 1st Grade and up. A Backhandspring is required for Gym Troupe II. Ultimate Athlete: This is a gymnastics based class for junior and senior high school age boys and girls who want to be better at any sport, whether it be soccer, skate-boarding or football! Gymnastics is used to develop kinesthetic awareness, strength and coordination. Sessions are typically 8 weeks long and run continuously from August through June. SOAP BOX DEBY Lancaster Soap Box Derby www.lancastersoapboxderby.com 740-687-4806 (Derby Director, Brian Hunt) The Lancaster Soap Box Derby is dedicated to teaching the youth of South East Ohio how to become a better, more imaginative, self confident team player, which will prepare them for the future. By working together with their family, friends, and peers in the building and competing of the Soap Box Derby Race Car, today’s youth will learn the power of teamwork, the pride of sportsmanship, and the lessons for life skills. What you need to do to get started: 1) You need to be at least 8 years old. 2) You must have a parent or guardian to work with you on your car (this is a family sport). 3) Contact Brian Hunt (740-687-4806) or Andy Dum (740-689-9588) so they can get you signed up and get all your paperwork to you, like rules, regulations, order form for your car, etc. 4) You’ll need to get yourself a sponsor. You can have more than one sponsor, there is no limit. You need a sponsor for race day which is $ 75.00, and you need a car sponsor (these are usually the same sponsor). Your car sponsor helps you fund your car. Each British Soccer Camp provides players of all ages and abilities the appropriate program and level of curriculum and a wonderful cultural and educational camp experience! Each day includes individual foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a daily tournament. Equally important, the Challenger coaching staff provides your child with lessons in self-discipline, good sportsmanship and respect for others and for the game.
