I am expecting another child and want to change doctors. I have had two different doctor's in this town and I didn't care for either. I would love a better experience this time. I am looking for someone who spends a little time with their patients, doesn't speak of induction as soon as you hit 37 weeks, and someone who listens to you. If anyone has had a great OB they can tell me about I would really appreciate it.

I'm not sure if this is one of the Dr.s that you've seen, but I had my last son with Dr. DeLong. This was the only time I've delivered in Lancaster and I really liked him. I respected him right away when he didn't comment on how many children I've had or encourage me in any way to have or not have more. He said he'd give me his honest medical opinion, but that was all, and even suggested I could try for a girl next year! :) I felt like I could spend 5 min or 1/2 hour in his office and when I had concerns he'd look me straight in the eye and answer them honestly but confidently - as though he knew it was a serious question and he was going to be completely honest with me, but he also had it under control and I was going to be fine.
Anyway, that is one suggestion for you. I hope it helps.
Oh - and congratulations!!

Congrats on the new baby! How exciting!

I have four children, one delivered in Columbus, two in Circleville and my last here in Lancaster. When I found out I was pregnant with number four we decided to go ahead and deliver in Lancaster because we live so close to the hospital. This was a hard decision because I LOVED my OB in Circleville. It just wasn't practical for us to drive that far so often. Because I had never delivered here I too was asking around for a good OB. I ended up in the ER early in the pregnancy and met the newest OB in town Dr. Overdorf. I decided to give him a try and it worked out great. He will offer induction, but for me he only offered oi at 39 weeks. I declined (until 40 weeks) and he didn't push it at all. He only offered it so that I could make sure he was on call to deliver, which I appreciated. He was extremely flexible with my "demands" and very patient with all of my silly calls! I never felt rushed out of office. I do know that he has a lot more patients now, but has a nurse practitioner to help with the extra patients.

Good luck!

THANKS! I am going to give Dr. Overdorf a try. I'm also glad to hear there is also a nurse practitioner in the office as well. My first two babies were both preterm and we fought to keep my third in full-term and it was a long not so enjoyable pregnancy. I was a little upset once I hit 37 weeks that my previous OB wanted to induce and kept pushing the subject. It meant something to me to make it to 40 weeks, which I did! Thanks so much for everyones insight! I am so excited about this new sight and glad i can find answers to questions locally.
