"Preschoolers in the Park" "PIP’s" is a special program for children ages 3-6 years of age and an adult friend. Offered by the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department and held at Alley Park, programs are nature oriented and include a hike and other activities related to a new topic each week. Two class times are available year-round on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 10:00-11:30 AM or 1:00-2:30 PM. Pre-registration is NOT required. The cost per class is $3.50 for residents and $4.50 for Non-Residents. "Saturday’s in the Park" This is a NEW program offered by the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department for families with children ages 3-12. All activities take place at Alley Park on the 3rd Saturday of every month from 10:00-11:30 AM. Preschoolers and their adult caregiver will stay together for all activities. Elementary aged children will have separate, age appropriate activities. Programs will be nature oriented and include a craft, hike and/or game. The cost per child is $3.50 for Lancaster Residents, $4.50 for Non-Residents, and a $10.00 Flat Rate for 3 or more children. The 2010 Schedule is as follows: January 16th - The Bear Necessities February 20th - Project Feederwatch March 20th - Bald Eagle April 17th - Pancake Breakfast and Earth Day Activities (Breakfast cost $4.00 per plate, Earth Day Activities are included) May 15th - In The Garden June 19th - Pond Exploration July through December Schedule TBA. "Nature Club" "Nature Club" is an exciting program offered by the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department for children in Kindergarten through 4th Grade. The Club meets in the lower level of the Goslin Nature Center at Alley Park from September through April on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. The children will enjoy nature hikes, crafts, games and other activities related to a new topic each week. Pre-registration is NOT required. The cost per class is $3.50 for residents and $4.50 for Non-Residents. *When Lancaster City Schools are cancelled, Nature Club will also be cancelled. "Adventure Club" "Adventure Club" is a fantastic program offered by the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department for children in 5th through 8th Grade. The Youth will participate in exciting hands-on activities with the Outdoor Education Staff during the four seasons at Alley Park. Pre-registration IS necessary at least one week prior to each event. 2010 programs are as follows: Winter Event: Camp-In "Down Under" February 14-15, 2010 3:00pm-11:00am Adventure Club invites everyone grades 5th - 8th to experience Alley Park overnight! Activities will include summer fun (It is summer in the outback this time of year), and live animals from the outback. Dress warm as we take a walkabout to find interesting things in the never, never of Alley Park! Cost is $25.00 per mate Pre-Registration is necessary. Spring Event: "River Adventure" April 17, 2010 Head over to the Hocking River for "Earth Day" activities. More information coming soon! Summer Event: "K"night C.A.M.P. July/August 2010 This week long day camp includes an overnight experience on Thursday for this age camper. More information coming soon!
