ALLEY PARK "Preschoolers in the Park" "PIPs" is a special program for children ages 3-6 years of age and an adult friend. Offered by the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department and held at Alley Park, programs are nature oriented and include a hike and other activities related to a new topic each week. Two class times are available year-round on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 10:00-11:30 AM or 1:00-2:30 PM. Pre-registration is NOT required. The cost per class is $3.50 for residents and $4.50 for Non-Residents. The 2010 Schedule is as follows: May 18th - In The Garden June 15th - Fishing Is Fun July through December 2010 Programs TBA "Saturdays in the Park" This is a NEW program offered by the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department for families with children ages 3-12. All activities take place at Alley Park on the 3rd Saturday of every month from 10:00-11:30 AM. Preschoolers and their adult caregiver will stay together for all activities. Elementary aged children will have separate, age appropriate activities. Programs will be nature oriented and include a craft, hike and/or game. The cost per child is $3.50 for Lancaster Residents, $4.50 for Non-Residents, and a $10.00 Flat Rate for 3 or more children. The 2010 Schedule is as follows: May 15th - In The Garden June 19th - Pond Exploration July through December Schedule TBA. "Nature Club" "Nature Club" is an exciting program offered by the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department for children in Kindergarten through 4th Grade. The Club meets in the lower level of the Goslin Nature Center at Alley Park from September through April on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. The children will enjoy nature hikes, crafts, games and other activities related to a new topic each week. Pre-registration is NOT required. The cost per class is $3.50 for residents and $4.50 for Non-Residents. *When Lancaster City Schools are cancelled, Nature Club will also be cancelled. "Adventure Club" "Adventure Club" is a fantastic program offered by the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department for children in 5th through 8th Grade. The Youth will participate in exciting hands-on activities with the Outdoor Education Staff during the four seasons at Alley Park. Pre-registration IS necessary at least one week prior to each event. Youth Bowling Summer Camp Ages 6-12. July 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29. Classes held at 2 pm on each T/W/Th Program includes: (3) 1 Hour Lessons, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday over a span of three weeks. (9) Total Hours. Includes on lane instructions and a pizza party at the end on the final days of classes. Tennis Camp The Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department offers a tennis camp for youth ages 5 to 16. Registration takes place in May and lessons begin in June. Each child receives a T-shirt. Lady Gales Basketball Camp 2010 June 8-11. Grades 1-9. $65 per player. The Lady Gales Basketball Camp emphasizes the fundamental skills needed in becoming a well balanced basketball player. Basic concepts of shooting, ball handling, and defense will be worked on daily. Also, individual players will experience the enjoyment of the game and teamwork through scrimmages and games. 2010 Kids in College at OUL Kids in College provides an opportunity for highly motivated students to reinforce the knowledge and instruction they received in school. Faculty members at Ohio University Lancaster Campus and other qualified instructors will teach the courses. Materials from the college curriculum are adapted for presentation to these students. Class enrollment is limited so that students receive individual attention. The courses are designed to be a "hands-on" experience. Week I - June 14-18. Week II - June 21-25. Week III - June 28-July 2 Cost is $85 per class PLUS lab fees. Camp is for students entering the 4th grade up to and including students who completed the 8th grade as of June 2010 are eligible. Summer Music Camp Family Music Camp - for parents and children age 1 to 4 1/2 years. Bring all children within that age range to the same music class and sing/dance/create/play/and make crafts each week for one low price. Just $240 for 8 weeks of class for up to 4 children. Classes meet once a week for 1 1/4 hours and begin the week of June 21. Single child price is $120. Children will make their own instruments and use studio instruments from many cultures to tell stories and create musical ensembles that teach beginning rhythm and note reading skills. Lancaster Junior Gale One Day Football Camp Tuesday, June 8th. 9:00 am - 12:30 pm. Campers can be dropped off at 8:30 am and need to be picked up by 1:00 pm. This camp is for children entering grades 1-8. Calamity day is June 9th. Cost is $25.00 if application is postmarked by May 31st and $30.00 if after May 31st. Fisher Catholic Youth Football Camp July 22, 23 and 24 for children entering grades 1-8. Thursday and Friday the camp runs from 6:30-8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:30-11:00 am. Camp will take place at Fisher Catholic. Cost is $50.00. Walk ups are accepted the day of camp. Wear t-shirt, shorts, socks, cleats and bring a water bottle. Swimming Lessons The American Red Cross offers summer swimming lessons at in partnership with the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department. Registration is June 30th at 5pm and is a one-day sign up only. Sign up at the Red Cross Office - 121 W. Mulberry St., Lancaster. Sign ups are on a first come first serve basis. Lessons are July 5th - 15th OR July 26th - August 5th. Camp is $30. Lessons will take place at Miller pool. For more information regarding registration, lesson dates and fees please call the American Red Cross of Fairfield County at 740-687-5585. Valley View Pool offers swimming lessons in two week sessions during the summer, with Session One beginning in June and Session Two beginning in July. The cost of lessons is $55 for members and $70 for non-members. Valley View Pool is located at the Valley View Golf Course in Lancaster, Ohio, at 1410 George Road. The pool is a cooperative and is owned by the members, but you do not need to be a member to take lessons at the pool. Visit www.valleyviewpool.com to download the membership application. |
